Greetings and Welcome to Care Group Ministry!

One of the strengths of Evangelical Community Church (ECCI) is relationship. If you visit any of the four services, you will notice a few things: pastors praying for individuals during service, fellowship over a cup of tea or coffee with many people catching up with one another, groups of young people sitting and chatting away, and for the evening service, the person who has to lock up even has to remind members that it is time to leave for the evening. Members have been sharing their lives for years, and for some, decades. Their children have been friends since Sunday school. It is a beautiful expression of the body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 12 describes the relationship between Christians. Christ is the head of the church and we are part of the whole body of Christ. As Christians, we are interdependent; we are to live and support one another. Christian life is meant to be lived in a community. Each one has a role to play and each role is different, but when everyone plays their role, there is completeness in Christ. We rejoice and suffer together. Everyone of us belongs to the head, Christ.
Relationship is ECCI’s strength and we have the advantage of established relationships while also desiring relationship. Let us take advantage of this strength and build on it. There is much for us to do in building the body of Christ. Let me suggest a few things. Firstly, if you are not in a Care Group yet, find a group that you feel comfortable in and one you feel can help you to grow. Care Group is a place where people come together to support and grow together. Secondly, for those in Care Group, let us build a place where we can be loving, caring, supportive, transparent, and accountable. A place where we can share our lives; the good and the not so good, struggles, victories, pain, joy, etc. Finally, let us support one another in ensuring that God’s purposes be fulfilled in our lives and that as a community we can make impact outside the church.
Let us “do life together” and build the Kingdom of God.
PURPOSE OF CARE GROUP
1. A CARE GROUP IS A PLACE OF CARING
- It is a place where Christians have the opportunity to practice their priesthood. It is a place where we can come together to care for one another through support, prayer, encouragement, accountability, and express love.
2. A CARE GROUP IS A PLACE OF MAKING DISCIPLES
- It is a place where we can help one another to grow in our maturity in Christ.
3. A CARE GROUP IS A PLACE OF MINISTRY
- It is a place to discover, develop and use God’s gift in our lives.
4. A CARE GROUP IS A PLACE OF REACHING OUT
- It is a place for outreach. A place where Christians can bring their relatives, friends and neighbors to know who Jesus Christ is.
- A place they can have an opportunity to experience life in the love and goodness of Jesus Christ.
