Cambodia Missions Trip Report 2008 PDF Print E-mail

Our 10 day mission trip to Cambodia (27 Dec 08 to 5 Jan 09) had been a fruitful and blessed one where God's sovereignty and almighty hands were upon everything we did from the beginning to the end. The 2008 mission team members were Pastor Ken Teo, Pastor Winnie Phoon, Patrick Phoon, Alan Woo, Karen Woo, Jared Yeo and Lin Xin Ang.

Our mission team spent 10 days outreaching in villages where we provided the following ministries:

  • Shared powerful testimonies and messages from the word of God on 'God Transforms'

  • Led numerous children songs, performed drama skits about being special in God's eyes (SuperKids program)

  • Ran a drama workshop at the Youth Camp which was about expression, using our body to form objects, and role playing

  • Held several games program including a wet'n'wild program at a Youth Camp

  • Held a hygiene program on brushing teeth and washing hands

  • Distributed more than 300 soft toys, 400 toothbrushes, 200 toothpastes, 350 Australian-made lollies, 300 koala bears and 300 hand-made peg bookmarks which were generously donated by our Australian and Singaporean churches

We were very blessed to see many souls being saved in the name of Jesus, developed great relationships with the young Cambodian church members, and witnessed the liveliness and sincerity in their praise and worship. God's presence is so real in Cambodia. We truly believe that Cambodia will no longer be known as the 'killing fields' but of the 'living fields'.

God had amazingly put this team together to do all that was required. We are thankful for the prayer support and sacrifical giving we received from the Australian and Singaporean churches, because it made a huge difference and impact among the Cambodians who received God's blessing through them. Above all, thanks be to God for His abundant provision, protection and blessing upon our ministries.

Article on Missions Faith Promise

Missions Faith Promise: What is It?

Faith Promise is a means of funding missions in the local church. It has been used for many years to help congregations increase their giving to God's missionary work.

The Faith Promise is a commitment between an individual and God. It is a one-year promise of a sum of money that an individual, in dependence upon God, intends to give to missions. It is not based on money that people have on hand. The aim is higher. People are urged to ask God what they should trust Him for, the amount that He will enable them to give for missions during the coming year.

"This requires faith; not faith-to-get, but faith-to-give. Ninety-nine percent of the time we exercise faith to receive something from God. We must learn to exercise faith to give something for God and His mission in the world." (John T. Seamands)

Faith Promise provides a way for God to enable an individual or a family to give to missionary work more than their calculations show that they can. They "promise" to give in "faith" that God will provide. They step out in faith with a commitment, begin to fulfil that commitment, and continue to fulfil it as God makes it possible .

Faith promise is a commitment to God, based on His provision, to give a certain amount over a specific time period (usually a year). In one sense it is not a risk, because the individual gives as God provides. On the other hand it is a risk, because the individual begins to give toward the commitment even before God provides.

Faith promise is a means for churches to receive more money for God's missionary work than they would otherwise receive because it helps people to give more than they think they can.

For Faith Promise to "work," the people must have a heart for God's missionary work and sincerely desire to give generously. It allows people to give; helps people to increase their giving by faith.

On the other hand, where there is a cohesive strong desire among church leaders to contribute powerfully to the missions enterprise, giving can be miraculously increased. Many churches over many decades have published annual giving totals that demonstrate God's working in this way.— ACMC

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
